Don Pablo’s

When craving Tex-Mex, where should two gal pals go? To Don Pablo’s of course!  The dining duo headed to the west side of Indy to feast on chips and salsa and more chips and salsa. While perusing the menu and munching on crispy chips, Jennifer briefly thought about Rico’s Lunch (one beef enchilada and one beef taco) or a chimi, but Sheila decided upon a yummy fajita burrito and Jennifer thought that this sounded swell, too! Sheila, however, steered Jennifer into the direction of the fish tacos. Sheila was actually curious about eating them, too! This came as a great shock to Jennifer who knows that her dining companion is somewhat fish-phobic. Sheila asked about the fishiness of mahi mahi and was assured that it was a milder fish. That settled it! The duo decided that they should split the entrees, which is a great treat!

The fish tacos were excellent! The mahi mahi was lightly breaded and fried and served in a soft taco shell with shredded lettuce, jack cheese, and a tangy lime salsa that added a nice kick to the otherwise quite mild tacos. The fajita steak burrito was dense and delicious. The beef was flavorful and plentiful, the sauteed onions and peppers delicious, and the rich queso accented this dish perfectly. Standards sides of refried beans and rice were served–nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Splitting the entrees turned out to be a great choice – the lighter fish dish was nicely balanced by the heavier, cheesy burrito.

Service was quick, friendly, and competent. Hey, you can’t beat a hearty, tasteful lunch for under ten bucks!
